Truck Driver – Class 5
Permanent, Full Time
Based in Bell Block

• Are you a class 5 heavy vehicle operator?
• Are you motivated, have a positive attitude and are committed to delivering the highest level of service?
• Are you team player who thrives off doing it right the first time, every time?

We are on the hunt for experienced and hardworking Class 5 Heavy Vehicle Operators to work out of Taranaki.

Interested? This is what you’ll do:

• Work as part of a dedicated team or operate a wide variety of units depending on the needs of our clients which vary on a day to day basis, both options available
• Prioritising safety and compliance at all times while completing load plans and daily logs
• Maintain a clean and well-presented fleet of vehicles, daily inspection of vehicles and reporting of any defects or damage
• Drive in an exemplary manner, following NZTA rules and regulations as well as adhering to all Symons Transport policies and procedures.
• Liaise with all customers, members of the public and work colleagues politely and professionally at all times
• Comply with health and safety policies and procedures to maintain a safe workplace.
• Have good time management skills and be able to follow instructions/directions well
• Use of tablets to accurately record hours, mileage, load plans and any other relevant information.
• Be a well-presented team player with excellent communication skills and attention to detail

Truck Driver – Class 5
Truck and Trailer - Tanker
Based in Palmerston North

• Are you a class 5 heavy vehicle operator with truck and trailer tanker experience?
• Are you motivated, have a positive attitude, and are committed to delivering the highest level of service?
• Are you team player who thrives off doing it right the first time, every time?

If you are nodding your head and answering ‘yes’ to these questions, this could be the opportunity you have been waiting for.

We are on the hunt for an experienced and hardworking Class 5 Heavy Vehicle Operator based in Palmerston North. You will need to have truck and trailer tanker experience as well as having high level reserving experience. You must be reliable, be able to self-manage and be able to build and maintain relationship with customers. 

Please note, there is an opportunity for you to be a contractor if that suits you better.

About the role:
As the Driver Performance Manager, you will enhance the capability, versatility, ability and overall performance of drivers within the Symons Group of Companies and The Symons Institute of Transport in order for the company to exceed customer expectations. You’ll need to keep your hand in so there will also be opportunities to get behind the wheel of some of the latest gear on the road.

What does that mean / what would my key tasks be?

Foster and enhance the working culture within the Symons Group of Companies.
Collate and utilise driver behaviour metrics to enhance performance.
Facilitate all programs conducted as part of the Symons Institute of Transport.
Monitor driver qualifications and facilitate refresher training.
Monitor internal and external HSE inductions and facilitate renewal.
Participate in the staff recruiting process.

What do I need to succeed?

Two years’ experience in training / training coordination role (highly desirable).
Two years’ experience in the transport or logistics industry.
Professional approach.
Ability to relate to and interact with people from all walks of life.
Organisational and time management skills.
Excellent attention to detail.
Confidentiality.
Attention to detail and written skills when communicating with others, both internally and externally.
